Tanjore Paintings, as different from water/colour based paintings, are the only paint-based art form of Traditional India. Tanjore Paintings are prepared layer by layer of cloth and on certain relief areas elaborate decoration was anchored thereto in the form of jewels, cut-glass pieces, pearl decorations, etc., and finally the remaining bare areas are painted in bright colours.
These paintings splendid in colour, presents haloed serenity of Deities blessing with traquil ecstasy and exudes life in various forms as green with jealousy, purple with rage, red with anger, white with fear, black with hatred, etc. Paintings are bestowed with rich background like, trees, flowers, clouds, winged/angles, etc. Even glass paintings are also available in the Tanjore Art.
